Jamaican art, history and landscape came alive during the opening of the âOf Wood and Water: The Scotiabank Collectionâ exhibition at the National Gallery of Jamaica (NGJ) on June 14. Drawing inspiration from Jamaicaâs ancient TaĂno name, Xaymaca â âthe Land of Wood and Waterâ â the exhibition brings together more than 50 works from both the Scotiabank corporate art collection and the NGJ permanent collection. Together, the works explore the island as a living force shaped by time, memory and transformation. The exhibition runs until September 13. Something Extra has the social highlights.
