The Tobago People’s Party (TPP) has decided not to move forward with nominees Trevor James and Barry Nelson as potential candidates for Tobago West, and has chosen to “consider additional prospects.”
In a press release, the party said following consultations with local action groups, the TPP’s executive directed the Screening Committee to make the move. The party will officially present its two candidates at a special convention on March 23 and has invited all members to attend.
James, the THA’s Infrastructure Secretary, and Nelson were the only nominees screened for Tobago West. Meanwhile, six contenders were considered for Tobago East, including former Assistant Commissioner of Police William Nurse, retired Fire Service head David Thomas, former assemblyman Max James, THA technical adviser Anslem Richards, TPP chairman Ann Second, and William Trim.
