(Kaieteur News) – The trial of five men accused of beating a 61-year-old man to death began this week after a 12-member jury was empanelled at the Demerara High Court on Wednesday.
Justice Sandil Kissoon is presiding over the matter, which dates back to November 2021. State counsels Tiffany Lyken and Rabina Christmas are presenting the prosecution’s case.
Brian Evans, 22, of No. 11 Village, West Coast Berbice; Ryan Dhanraj, 27, of Block D Waterloo, Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice; James David, 18, a labourer of No. 12 Village, West Coast Berbice; Samuel Vanbrook, called “Chucky,” 22, unemployed, of Waterloo, Bath Settlement; and Leeward Chung, called “Boysie,” 22, unemployed, also of Bath Settlement, are jointly charged with murder under common law in the death of Bheim Evans.
