KINGSTON, Jamaica â The Fi We Children Foundation (FWCF) has welcomed the announcement of a revised National Student Dress and Grooming Policy but is urging the Government to ensure that the new framework protects studentsâ rights and prevents arbitrary enforcement of appearance standards.
The announcement of the revised policy was made by Minister of Education and Youth Dr Dana Morris Dixon during the Jamaica Teachersâ Associationâs 62nd Annual Conference at Ocean Coral Spring in Trelawny.
While welcoming the anticipated rollout, FWCF, in a statement on Thursday, said the urgency of addressing student grooming concerns must not be minimised. The foundation said the focus should extend beyond maintaining school standards to ensuring that rules are fair, reasonable, transparent and consistently applied.
