Two men from Santa Flora, Tobago, are reported missing after departing for St Vincent and the Grenadines earlier this week, prompting search and rescue operations amid warnings of rough seas.
Alvin Morgan and Damien Reece were aboard a 29-foot pirogue, Kampai, built for fishing in St Vincent and the Grenadines. According to the Hunters Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), led by Vallence Rambharat, the vessel left Buccoo, Tobago, around 1.30 p.m. on Monday, bound for Union Island. The boat and its crew were expected to arrive between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., but never reached their destination.
The HSRT was alerted to the incident, and Rambharat immediately reported the matter to the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard. He has issued a call to fisherfolk and marine craft operators in Tobago and St Vincent and the Grenadines to remain on high alert and respond to any SOS signals.
