An additional $14.5 million in funding has been approved to pay new salaries within the Judiciary, including security.
During yesterday’s Standing Finance Committee for Consideration of the Supplementation and Variation of Appropriation for fiscal 2025/26, Attorney General John Jeremie underscored the Judiciary as a critical pillar of the society.
However, the Opposition People’s National Movement (PNM) questioned whether the new staff to be paid also included security provided by a firm owned by the Ramhit Group of Companies.
