British Airways’ expanded London–Barbados services could deliver more than 120 000 additional seats annually, increasing capacity by 70 per cent this winter and more than 100 per cent next summer, according to Cheryl Cumberbatch, the acting permanent secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport.
The service from London Gatwick Airport has returned after a two-year hiatus as part of a programme offering three daily BA flights in winter and two daily flights in summer.
Cumberbatch announced the expanded programme following the new Gatwick service’s inaugural arrival at Grantley Adams International Airport on Sunday, as the island signalled the start of the winter tourist season.
