Steep declines in mining, agriculture and tourism-related activities helped shrink Jamaica's economy by 2.9 per cent in the April-June quarter, according to the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN).
In its quarterly Gross Domestic Product (GDP) report released Wednesday, STATIN said total value added at constant (2015) prices fell to $420.9 billion in the April-June quarter from $433.4 billion a year earlier, a decline of $12.55 billion.
STATIN said output declined in both the goods-producing industries, by 6.3 per cent, and the services industries, by 1.8 per cent, compared with the second quarter of 2025.
