(Kaieteur News) – The United States Export Import (US EXIM) Bank does not lend a dime to fund any projects unless a feasibility study and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is conducted.
This is according to the US Ambassador to Guyana, Nicole Theriot. During an interview with Kaieteur News on Tuesday on the sidelines of an event, the diplomat explained the requirements that must be met.
She said, “So yes, EXIM abides by (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) OECD rules. So, OECD is an international body and EXIM abides by those rules and that OECD requires all of those studies to be done and they do not lend a dime to anyone until those have been done and satisfied.”
