The remains of Ray Small, found 17 years after being lodged at the Forensic Science Centre (FSC), are to be handed over to his family. This after Marilyn Celestine made several attempts over the years, through various authorities, to find out about her brother’s remains and, with no update, filed for judicial review.
During yesterday’s sitting, the director of the FSC told the court Small’s remains were located and could be delivered.
In 2009, the skeletal remains of a human were found by police officers at Gerald Street in New Village, Point Fortin. They were sent to the FSC for investigation to confirm they belonged to Small. That year, Celestine and another brother did DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) tests for the forensic analysis at the FSC.
