OREGON, USA — William Knibb Memorial High School’s Sanjay Seymore has turned down several offers from United States colleges, choosing to remain in Jamaica as he targets places on the country’s teams for the 2027 World Athletics Championships and 2028 Olympic Games.
The ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships and Carifta Games 200m champion is coming off a season of highs and lows, including finishing third in his favourite event at the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) National Junior Championships and missing out on an individual spot on Jamaica’s team to the 21st World Athletics Under-20 Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Seymore, who recently signed a professional contract, declined to give details about his plans but confirmed to the Jamaica Observer on Sunday that he would remain in Jamaica for now.
