PRIME Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday announced the start of joint training exercises between the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) and the United States Marine Corps 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), stating that the engagement reflects a sustained security partnership between both countries.
In a statement issued via social media, Persad-Bissessar said the MEU, deployed under US Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM), will participate in various exercises with the TTDF until November 21.
She said her Government “proudly welcomes the United States Marine Corps 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to our shores” and added that the collaboration supports national security efforts.
