In an article entitled ‘Butler not quitting on Turners Oval just yet’ dated May 6, 2026, The Gleaner publication reported comments from Mr Craig Butler referring to Mr Rudolph Speid in a derogatory manner, including indicating that Mr Speid acted inappropriately in purchasing the Turners Oval property in Clarendon.  The Gleaner has since been provided with information demonstrating that the Turners Oval property was acquired by the Cavalier Soccer Club Limited, a separate and distinct legal entity.
The Gleaner has no basis or evidence to attribute any impropriety or irregularity in relation to the acquisition of the Turners Oval property.
In the circumstances, The Gleaner publication unreservedly withdraws the offending report relating to Mr Speid and apologises to him for any embarrassment, distress, or harm caused by our report.
