Two Trinidad and Tobago Regiment (TTR) soldiers rescued five civilians who got into difficulty in the waters off Blanchisseuse Beach on Saturday, according to a Facebook post by the Trinidad and Tobago Regiment.
The Regiment said that around 4 pm, soldiers from the First Infantry Battalion were conducting a routine patrol near the Blanchisseuse Community Centre when they noticed two children and an adult man struggling in the water.
Recognising that the three were in distress, the sergeant on patrol sought assistance from the operator of a nearby resort and obtained a life ring.
