The Sunday Express acknowledges the questions raised by readers following the removal from our online platform of a report concerning the reported revocation of a sitting Government minister’s United States visa.
The article was removed following concerns over comments posted by readers beneath the story. The decision was therefore taken as a precautionary editorial measure.
The removal of the article was not a retraction of the report, nor should it be interpreted as an admission that the reporting was false or that the newspaper was not standing by the work of its reporter. Our record will show that, where circumstances warrant a retraction or an apology, we do not hesitate to take that step. We believe accountability is an essential part of responsible journalism, and we remain committed to upholding that principle.
