PRESIDENT of the Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM) Ancel Roget says the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery is close to reopening and wage negotiations for several unions would soon be finalised.
Speaking at Harris Promenade yesterday following a march from the head office of the Oilfields Workers’ Trade Union (OWTU) at Circular Road, San Fernando, to commemorate May Day, Roget said the unions continued to make representation on behalf of all workers.
This, he added, was possible through the union’s participation in governance through Members of Parliament for La Brea and Point Fortin, Clyde Elder and Ernesto Kesar respectively, and Labour Minister Leroy Baptiste.
