After years of disability caused by haemophilia, 48-year-old Pooran Sookdeo is walking again following a complex surgical procedure at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Sookdeo has faced a lifetime of medical challenges but a landmark surgical achievement at GPHC has given him renewed hope, offering him the opportunity to regain his independence and improve his quality of life.
On September 22, 2026, GPHC performed a total knee replacement on Sookdeo through its partnership with the Louisiana Center for Bleeding & Clotting Disorders (LCBCD) at Tulane University, New Orleans, facilitated through the World Federation of Haemophilia (WFH) Twinning Programme.
