All four branches of the Works Credit Union will be fully reopened on Monday, August 24th, at 8am, following the successful completion of salary negotiations.
This ends the nearly one-month strike and closure of the credit union’s branch operations, as employees staged a protest on July 27th, led by the majority union, the Bankers, Insurance and General Workers Union (BIGWU).
According to media reports, the settlement covers the period from January 1st, 2023, to December 31st, 2025, and was reached on Tuesday, August 18th, after an intensive 11-hour conciliation process.
