Po­lice shot two men dur­ing a con­fronta­tion in Jairs­ingh Vil­lage, Coalmine, San­gre Grande, on Sun­day night.

Re­ports said of­fi­cers were on ex­er­cise at 7 p.m. when they opened fire on two ban­dits. One, who has not yet been iden­ti­fied, died on the spot. The oth­er was wound­ed and tak­en by po­lice to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal, where he is re­ceiv­ing treat­ment.

The body of the de­ceased was lat­er or­dered re­moved to the San­gre Grande Mor­tu­ary pend­ing a post-mortem at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre.
