Woman threatens legal action over injuries at YUPLIFE 5K

ATTORNEYS for a 32-year-old woman has served YUP Entertainment Ltd with a pre-action protocol letter over injuries she allegedly sustained during the YUPLIFE Annual 5K & Fitcert 2026 at the Queen's Park Savannah in July. In the letter dated September 7 to the company's directors, attorney Jason Luke Jones stated that he acted on behalf of Simone Cardinal together with Dr Emir Crowne, Matthew G W Gayle and Joel Anderson Jones.

According to the letter, Cardinal participated in an obstacle course challenge during the Fitcert component of the event. The challenge required participants to begin from a large truck tyre and move across suspended apparatus while supporting their body weight from overhead aluminium stage and entertainment trussing.

The attorneys said participants were required to grip diagonal structural connectors rather than standard horizontal monkey-bar rungs. They raised concerns about the suitability of the trussing for that purpose and said the demonstration before participation did not address the risk of losing grip, the procedure for participants who could not complete the obstacle, or how they could safely disengage.
