CRIMINOLOGIST Dr Randy Seepersad says that despite the number of police-involved killings recorded throughout the duration of the state of emergency (SoE), there appears to be no significant surge in figures this year.

The Express asked Seepersad last week about the estimated 13 (now 14) police-involved killings recorded within this timeframe and the total of 19 (now 20) recorded for the year thus far. Seepersad said the number was no departure from previously recorded estimations of at least 50 killings per year.
