The Government is facing criticism from the Opposition People’s National Movement (PNM) cultural advocates and Pan Trinbago following its decision to extend the time allowed for the use of the former coat of arms until 2031 .
Former minister of tourism, culture and the arts Randall Mitchell said the Government could have extended the implementation by one year, instead of five.
He said the decision to extend the timeline by five years beyond the term of the UNC Government shows that the administration is not interested in implementing the change to the coat of arms at all.
