Minister of Defence Wayne Sturge said yesterday that Trinidad and Tobago welcomes the assistance of the United States in stemming the flow of illegal drugs and guns into the country.
“If the actions of the US prevent drugs and guns from entering our territory, we most certainly would welcome any help which redounds to our country’s benefit,” he said in response to questions from the Express about US President Donald Trump’s announcement that the US military had shot a vessel transporting drugs from Venezuela.
The minister added that there had been no request from the US to this country for assistance.
