Prime MinÂisÂter KamÂla PerÂsad-BissesÂsar says Trinidad and ToÂbaÂgo must take reÂsponÂsiÂbilÂiÂty for its post-InÂdeÂpenÂdence failÂures inÂstead of conÂtinÂuÂing to blame its coloÂnial past.
In her InÂdeÂpenÂdence Day mesÂsage on SunÂday, PerÂsad-BissesÂsar said the counÂtry had failed to build on what she deÂscribed as a strong founÂdaÂtion left by the British in 1962.
“We must conÂfront our post-inÂdeÂpenÂdence hisÂtoÂry with honÂesty and acÂknowlÂedge that we should have done much betÂter over the past 64 years,” she said.
