BNECL appoints new chief executive officer

The Barbados National Energy Company Limited (BNECL) has appointed accomplished energy executive Michael Sargeant as its new chief executive officer, effective September 15.

Sargeant brings almost four decades of international experience spanning the traditional and renewable energy sectors. His career has included senior executive and technical leadership roles across the Caribbean, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Asia and other international markets.

A former global leader with Shell, Sargeant held several senior positions with the company, including vice rresident for the Americas, global operations manager and global technology commercialisation manager. More recently, he served as a renewable vice president for the Americas at Neste and has held other senior executive responsibility for sales, marketing, trading, storage and distribution across the Americas.
