KINSHASA, Democratic Republic of Congo (AFP) â The head of the World Health Organization has arrived in the Democratic Republic of Congo for a meeting with President Felix Tshisekedi, as the Ebola epidemic intensifies, the UN agency said on Wednesday.
DR Congo declared its 17th Ebola outbreak on May 15, and at the weekend the WHO warned that it was spreading at an âexceptionalâ pace, urging a scaling-up of the health response.
There have been 3,874 confirmed cases and 1,751 deaths since the start of the outbreak, the world health body said.
