(Kaieteur News) – President Irfaan Ali has called on the Bank of Baroda to channel more of its parent company’s global capital into Guyana’s local market, particularly towards financing small businesses.
He made the call on Friday evening while officially inaugurating the bank’s new headquarters at Carmichael and Quamina Streets, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown, as the financial institution marked 60 years of operations in Guyana.

President Ali recalled that when he assumed office in 2020, the bank was considering exiting the Guyanese market. He said one of his early priorities was to convince both Bank of Baroda and Scotiabank to remain in the country.
