A stand­off erupt­ed at the Ed­die Hart Grounds in Tacarigua yes­ter­day, af­ter Tu­na­puna/Pi­ar­co Re­gion­al Cor­po­ra­tion (TPRC) chair­man Josi­ah Austin, ac­com­pa­nied by his coun­cil mem­bers, ar­rived with a stop or­der seek­ing to halt works which re­sumed in prepa­ra­tion for a mo­bile po­lice post.

The con­fronta­tion un­fold­ed as Home­land Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Roger Alexan­der and Min­is­ter of Rur­al De­vel­op­ment and Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Khadi­jah Ameen were on site over­see­ing prepa­ra­tions for the unit, which Gov­ern­ment says is one of 30 mo­bile po­lice posts be­ing es­tab­lished across the coun­try.

Austin main­tained that the cor­po­ra­tion was not con­sult­ed be­fore works be­gan and ac­cused the Gov­ern­ment of dis­re­gard­ing the TPRC’s au­thor­i­ty.
