As the junior model in BMW’s X line of sport activity vehicles, the X1 is set perfectly to introduce owners into the premium lifestyle associated with the German brand. It does so by providing enough of a taste of what to expect as one moves higher through the model hierarchy.
BMW has been moving away from the Russian doll syndrome of old. Each model is no longer a scaled photocopy of each other, instead visually distinct, and yet containing enough brand design DNA for it to be obviously a BMW. The X1 reflects this.
The 2026 version is bigger and uses the new dimensions to create a more macho, squared-off shape, all while retaining familial design cues. The major changes are in the rear, with its own light signature. The M Sport package adds 18-inch wheels, and the high-gloss shadow line converts the normally shiny exterior accents to a sleek monochromatic style.
