Public service vehicle driver Javere Jamario Brathwaite has been fined $1 000 after admitting that he had a knife in his possession on Fairchild Street without lawful authority or reasonable excuse.
The 27-year-old, of Bournes Land, Christ Church, appeared before Magistrate Jared Richards and admitted to having the offensive weapon in a public place on September 17.
PC Troy Tudor told the District ‘A’ Traffic Court that police on duty on Thursday evening saw Brathwaite and another person arguing. The other man walked away, but Brathwaite went back to the ZR van and armed himself with a silver-handled knife. After the officers intervened, the accused got into the vehicle and drove off, but was stopped on River Road.
