(Kaieteur News) – As the trial of Corentyne resident Seelall Dipnarine got underway on Wednesday at the Berbice High Court for the alleged murder of his wife, Tavita Lall, multiple witness testimonies were presented as the prosecution sought to rapidly build its case against the accused.
Dipnarine, 54, called ‘Nari’, is accused of setting Lall, 42, on fire at their No. 64 Village, Corentyne home on January 7, 2022. Lall, also called ‘Tasha’, later succumbed at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) just over a month later, despite a series of surgeries as doctors sought to keep the badly burnt woman alive.
Her partner of two years was arrested and charged for attempting to commit murder, but upon her passing, it was changed to murder. He was remanded to prison, where he spent four years awaiting trial.
