Two young people were shot dead and a third wounded during a late-night incident in a forested area near Wallerfield on Wednesday. The bodies of the deceased were discovered hours later near a vehicle linked to a recent robbery.
The deceased have been identified as 21-year-old Kershawn Edwards of Zone 8, Mount Zion, Maturita, Arima, and 17-year-old Kirmanie Dyer of Zone 8, Wallerfield. Injured in the incident was a 25-year-old of Wallerfield, who remains in hospital.
Police said that around 11:48 p.m. officers received a report that a man suffering from gunshot wounds had arrived at the Arima General Hospital. There, they met relatives of the victim, who told investigators that the wounded man, Edwards, and Dyer had gone hunting in a forested area opposite Punette Avenue Extension, Avenue Road.
