KINGSTON, Jamaica — Manchester North Western Member of Parliament (MP) Mikael Phillips has apologised for his use of an expletive during Tuesday’s confrontation at Gordon House, while accusing Government MP Desmond McKenzie of making an offensive remark about his deceased mother.
Phillips, in a statement Wednesday, said he regretted his response to the exchange but insisted that accounts of the incident circulated by Deputy Leader of Government Business Robert Nesta Morgan were “inaccurate and misleading”.
According to Phillips, he was standing with two other Opposition MPs discussing the circumstances surrounding the premature adjournment of the House of Representatives when the speaker exited the chamber.
