Win over Opposition, Independents

The return of the controversial Zones of Special Operations (ZOSO) legislation to Parliament will require Government to work with Opposition and Indepen­dent senators if it is to succeed, political scientist Prof Hamid Ghany has said.

Ghany said the previous bill failed in the Senate because the Go­v­ernment was unwilling to accept amendments proposed by the Opposition and Independent se­nators.

“The last time, this was back in January, and the bill is one that requires a three-fifths majority,” Ghany said in an interview with the Sunday Express yesterday.
