Contractor robbed at gunpoint at Cottonfield; two arrested, .45 pistol seized

(Kaieteur News) – Police in Regional Division #2 are investigating an alleged robbery under arms committed on Saturday,17th October, 2026, at about 15:10 hrs at Cottonfield, Essequibo Coast, during which a 44-year-old contractor of Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast, was robbed of a quantity of cash.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the contractor had arrived at a construction site to pay workers when he was approached from behind by a masked man armed with what appeared to be a handgun.

The suspect reportedly pointed the weapon at the contractor and demanded a bag containing cash. Fearing for his life, the contractor handed over the bag, after which the suspect fled in a black Toyota Allion motor car.
