The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) is urging members of the public to practise safe charging of electronic devices as Guyana observes its 52nd Fire Prevention Month, with electrical fires remaining a concern.
Fire Prevention Officer Sheldon Sauns, in a message marking Fire Prevention Month 2026, said the theme, “Charged into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower,” highlights the shared responsibility of the Fire Service and the public in preventing fires.
Sauns said the advancement of technology has created new fire hazards, requiring people to pay greater attention to how they charge and use electronic devices.
