In the early hours of Friday, officers of the National Special Operations Unit (NSOU), acting on intelligence, conducted an operation in the Eastern Division that resulted in the detention of 28 undocumented South American migrants.
Between 1:50 a.m. and 3:30 a.m., officers visited a sports bar located in St. Ann’s Village, Mayaro, where 28 Spanish-speaking female nationals of Venezuela were discovered without valid documentation or identification. They were detained and transported to the Mayaro Police Station for processing.
The bar owner was also taken into custody.
