Opposition Chief Whip and Arouca/Maloney MP Marvin Gonzales says the Opposition is still waiting for the date for the national budget but is holding little hope it will include any meaningful job-creation initiatives.
Speaking at a media briefing at the Opposition’s Charles Street, Port of Spain office on September 25, Gonzales accused the government of lacking a coherent employment strategy and pursuing policies that have led to mass job losses.
“The government has not announced any major policy that could reasonably be interpreted as promoting employment generation. Since taking office, it has only engaged in mass firings across state sectors and dismantling programmes designed to assist the most vulnerable,” he claimed.
