Guyana harvests over 7400 tonnes of corn, soybean in 1st half of 2026

During the first six months of the year, Guyana produced over 3000 tonnes of soya beans and some 4008 tonnes of corn, a major boost to the livestock industry.
This is according to the 2026 Midyear Report released by the Ministry of Finance on Monday.
“Corn and soybean remain critical crops for the livestock industry. The Government will continue to facilitate the cultivation and production processes. In the first half of 2026, 7800 acres of soya bean, and 1316 acres of corn were cultivated, while 3450 tonnes of soya bean and 4008 tonnes of corn were produced,” the report outlined.
