A pensioner had to flee from rising floodwaters that entered an area of her Barrackpore home, following heavy rains yesterday.
The women, who resides at Cumuto South Trace, has faced flooding several times in the past and it usually occurs just after ten to 15 minutes of rainfall.
Councillor for the area Joseph Lorant yesterday told the Express that a project is expected to be done to alleviate the issue. “It’s not just about clearing the waterway, this was done on numerous occasions for her. There are some challenges in terms of some areas being blocked and as a result she would have given consent of us to do remedial works in certain parts of the land,” Lorant said.
