Penal/Debe Regional Corporation (PDRC) chairman Gowtam Maharaj says his team is prepared to take on the threatening weather system, expected to bring persistent rainfall across the island today.
Maharaj, who visited several flood-prone areas in Penal, Debe and Barrackpore yesterday, said last month’s drain-clearing exercises may have prevented major damage during torrential rainfall this week.
He said the PDRC remains on standby, preparing shelters and delivering sandbags to families living in low-lying areas.
