Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar marked Maha Shivaratri 2026 with a night of spiritual fellowship and community engagement, visiting nine Hindu temples across her constituency from Sunday evening into the early hours of Monday.
The Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by devotees and residents at each location, continuing a tradition she has maintained for more than two decades as Member of Parliament, joining constituents annually in prayer, reflection, and celebration on the sacred night dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Speaking with worshippers along the way, Persad-Bissessar offered words of encouragement and gratitude, and extended blessings for peace, health, and prosperity upon families and the nation. She also encouraged parents to continue guiding their children with strong moral values, noting that education remains the most effective path out of poverty and a cornerstone for building responsible citizens and a stronger society.
