Canadian travel vlogger Christopher “Chris Must List” Hughes is asking the courts to postpone his sedition trial until Trinidad and Tobago’s state of emergency (SoE) comes to an end, with his attorney yesterday arguing that returning to the country could result in Hughes being detained without trial.
The application was made before Deputy Chief Magistrate Brian Debideen, where Hughes’ attorney, Criston J Williams, said the current security climate made it too risky for his client to return to Trinidad and Tobago.
The SoE is due to expire on September 17.
