Government has invested thousands of dollars in the purchase of hurricane straps to help secure the homes of Barbadians who may not have the financial means to buy the specialised metal fasteners.
Minister of Home Affairs Gregory Nicholls is encouraging Barbadians to access the straps, which can help prevent structural damage during hurricanes.
He said the major initiative is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Home Affairs, which has responsibility for disaster preparedness, along with the Ministry of Housing, Lands and Maintenance.
