Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has responded to criticisms that the National Recruitment Drive will not provide opportunities for former workers of the Community-Based Environmental Protection and Enhancement Programme Company Ltd (CEPEP) and the Unemployment Relief Programme (URP).
She stated that in addition to filling vacancies for daily-paid workers, the recruitment drive would provide sustainable jobs for former CEPEP and URP workers, allowing them to access bank loans.
Responding to the Express earlier today at the National Cycling Centre in Couva, where the recruitment drive has been ongoing since Sunday, Persad-Bissessar said opportunities were available for low-skilled and unskilled workers.
