A 12-year-old girl was hospitalised on Thursday after her mother said she experienced chest pains, nausea and dizziness from the scent of oil emanating from work being conducted in Tarouba by Heritage Petroleum.
The Express was told that the child, who recently wrote the Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) exam, and her mother went to the health centre and were then referred to the San Fernando General Hospital.
Her mother, who experienced the same symptoms, said: “We couldn’t take it, it was overbearing. It was a strong scent, and it was getting us sick with chest pains, shortness of breath, headaches, nausea and dizziness.”
