In terms of music, 1976 was a landmark year for reggae. It saw the release of outstanding albums by Bob Marley and The Wailers (Rastaman Vibration), Bunny Wailer (Blackheart Man) and Peter Tosh (Legalize It).
The self-titled album by Third World was also released in 1976. Released three years after the band formed in Kingston, it was the most eclectic of what are regarded as four of reggae’s greatest works.
Third World performs at ‘To Mom With Love’ on May 10 at the AC Hotel in Kingston, along with Marcia Griffiths, American Rhythm And Blues singer Glenn Jones, Robert Minott and Nesta.
