The Gleaner can report that the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) will, in the next few weeks, meet to discuss the new wildcard entry changes by World Athletics and their implications for team selection.
World Athletics has overhauled its wildcard system for the 2027 Beijing Championships and several Jamaican stars from last weekend's Diamond League final won't get an automatic pass.
Wildcards now come via three routes, up from two: defending 2025 World Champions, winners of this weekend's inaugural Ultimate Championship in Budapest, and winners of the 2027 Diamond League season – not 2026.
