A FirePower Fireworks representative suffered third-degree burns and was hospitalised in critical condition yesterday after fireworks accidentally discharged during preparations for the Independence Day display at the Queen’s Park Savannah.
Jennifer Czerepka, 45, from Florida, was in the company of Paul Rogers and a third person at the Grand Stand, Queen’s Park Savannah, around 10.45 am, preparing the fireworks for the Independence display, which was carded to begin at 8 pm
It was reported that Czerepka was attaching an electronic match to a firework motor housing when it accidentally ignited, causing fireworks to discharge and explode.
