From December 1, 2025, the public has round-the-clock access to General Practice services at the St Joseph Enhanced Health Centre. The facility now operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends and public holidays.
The extended hours allow patients to receive medical attention outside of traditional operating times and are expected to benefit the North Central Regional Health Authority catchment area and the wider national community, particularly those balancing work, school and family responsibilities.
The North Central Regional Health Authority says the move will also help reduce pressure on the Accident and Emergency Department at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex by diverting non-critical cases to the St Joseph facility. Increased use of the 24-hour General Practice service is expected to improve patient flow at the EWMSC, allowing emergency staff to focus on urgent and life-threatening cases.
